African Masked Weaver (I)

Posted by Lydia (Ottawa, Canada) on 12 April 2007 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

This amazing little bird is quite the nest builder. He tears off a part of palm tree leaf/sprout and actually weaves it in and out (like sewing) to create his nest. It takes about a day or so for him to complete this process and then it is ready for inspection by prospective females. Hope you enjoy this series.
